MICKEY is pleased to present ‘Say Sorry’, a solo presentation of new work by Chloe Seibert. The exhibition will be on display from November 16th 2018 to January 13th 2019.

A monumental red sculpture takes the shape of a human-dog hybrid, kneeling obediently and shamefully in contrast to its imposing scale. The statue is partially obscured by a matching trifold screen of transparent vinyl and steel that contradicts itself in its implied purpose of privacy. Scaled-up masks hang on the adjacent walls, painted with faces that evoke deviant pleasure. A smaller room hosts a series of ecstatic expressions scrawled into plaster puddles, adorned with locks and chains.

Seibert’s works are created with immediacy in their material constraints, as well as their psychological and emotional expressions. Time and scale become
vessels for emotionally charged, hectic forms, mediated through pedestrian industrial materials.

Chloe Seibert (b. 1989) lives and works in New York. Recent exhibitions include Karma International, Los Angeles; Thierry Goldberg, New York; and Cooper Cole, Toronto.
